Sloths

May 21, 2010

In every language I know well enough to know how to say sloth, every single one indicates that laziness is this animal’s principle characteristic: sloth (which connotes even more laziness than the word lazy); ナマケモノ (namakemono, Japanese for “lazy person”); עצלן (atzlan) and paresseux, Hebrew and French, respectively, for both “lazy” and “lazy person.”

I disagree. These things should be called “adorables.”
