Autumn, finally

November 9, 2011

Until last week, I hadn’t seen leaves change color since 2009. For someone who has lived in locations with pronounced and beautiful seasons all her life, this was one of the biggest adjustments Israel demanded. As intensely beautiful as that country is, the center of it lacks a certain something without snow, real cold to balance the summer heat, or falling leaves.

Autumn leaves and a pit bull

Here is my parents’ pit bull admiring the vibrant woods where I take her for a run each day. It’s been just above freezing for about a week, and the leaves won’t hold on much longer, but I treasure each day that they do, and can’t wait for the snow to follow.
